At MBFM we have two team members who are AMG Experts, and one of them, Mike Ryba, headed to Palm Springs the first week of December for training. Mike received in-depth training on the Mercedes-AMG GT and the Mercdes-AMG C 63, and even had the opportunity to drive it on-road and on-track! The on-track portion of the experience was hosted at The Thermal Club.
The Thermal Club “is the premier private motorsports facility in the world. In addition to 4.5 miles of members-only racetrack, the Club facilities include a fully amenitized Clubhouse and Village unrivaled in the motorsports world.”
Mike got to drive the new Mercedes-AMG GT (making the rest of us incredibly jealous).
The all-new 2016 Mercedes-AMG GT S is an achievement of intense passion and beauty for the senses: breathtaking performance, scene-stealing looks, and a growl that intimidates the road itself.
Born on the racetrack by the AMG engineers in Affalterbach, it features an all-new AMG 4.0-liter V8 biturbo engine and a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission, delivering a 0-to-60 time of 3.7 seconds (preliminary). Low bodyweight and lightning-fast power transfers mean cornering is thrillingly sharp, with the Mercedes-AMG GT S setting new standards for precise, dynamic performance.
The interior is the next expression of our “aviation design” theme, featuring a powerful wing-like dashboard, four central spotlight-style vents and a dominant center console. And everywhere you look and touch, the finest materials and craftsmanship exude the quality and exclusivity that only Mercedes-AMG can provide.
The all-new Mercedes-AMG GT S arrives in Spring 2015.
With breathtaking driving dynamics, refined luxury and impressive fuel economy, the all-new 2015 Mercedes-AMG C63 is a truly unique beast of an automobile.
At its core is an all-new 4.0-liter V8 biturbo engine—closely related to the one that powers the all-new Mercedes-AMG GT—delivering up to 503 horsepower*. And while the C63 can accelerate from zero to 60 mph in as low as 3.9 seconds* (preliminary), it also offers remarkable V8 fuel efficiency.
AMG DYNAMIC SELECT lets you customize the suspension, drivetrain and other systems—even the dynamic exhaust system—to whatever suits your driving mood. Inside and out, AMG-exclusive design elements not only grab attention, but also enhance performance. And first-class quality materials and precise craftsmanship leave no doubt that this is a true Mercedes-AMG.
The all-new Mercedes-AMG C63 and C63 S arrive in March 2015.
But it’s not all fun and racing! Mercedes-Benz and Mercedes-AMG takes training seriously, and there were a number of classroom courses over the three days that covered AMG Brand Strategy, AMG Engines and Engineering, AMG Performance, product training and market-specific topics.
“My favorite part of the experience had to be the on-road driving through the mountains,” Mike told us. We can only imagine it must have been an incredible adventure!
